After two years, the new travel guide for Slovenia, published by the prestigious British publishing house Dorling Kindersley (DK) is finally available in bookstores. From now on there is also a mobile guide for the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012.
Slovenia received the award for the most sustainable stand at the MITT Moscow. In May, Kranjska Gora will host the 15th Slovenian Incoming Workshop. Slovenia was selected to host IMEX Challenge 2012, the international social responsibility project.
The Slovenian association Ecologists without Borders has, for the second time, organised an all-Slovenian voluntary campaign entitled "Let`s clean Slovenia", in which almost a quarter of a million Slovenians (12 per cent of the population) participated. This time, the project has expanded to a global level – namely, within the framework of the global initiative World Cleanup 2012. The main motivator and leader of the global movement Let`s Do It!, Rainer Nolvak, who also helped clean Ljubljana, said that Slovenia should teach other nations the magic of uniting so many people for the same objective.

| The attitude of Europeans and Slovenes towards tourism |
| The European Commission has, for the fourth time in a row, published the Eurobarometer report on the attitude of Europeans towards tourism. In 2011, 72% of EU tourists went travelling, while more than 80% answered that they will continue to travel in 2012 either on short or long journeys. | In February 2012 7% more foreign overnight stays |
| Compared to February 2011, in February 2012 1% more tourist arrivals and 1% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations in Slovenia. The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists decreased by 2% and of foreign tourists increased by 7%. In the first two months of this year the number of tourist arrivals is up by 2% and the number of overnight stays up by 1% over the same period of 2011. more... |
